Muirhead appears for Darlington
Muirhead appears for Darlington

Play Off hero Ben Muirhead has joined the side that he knocked out of the Play Offs on trial, and he featured for them when he made a late substitution appearance on Saturday against St Mirren.

Muirhead was released by Dale last week, as the club agreed to terminate his contract. He had been transfer listed earlier in the Summer following the Play Off final but with a lack of interest from elsewhere and a clear lack of opportunities for him at Spotland, the contract termination was in everyone's best interests.

And it probably came as no surprise to see him turn up at Darlington - a side who were reportedly our rivals for his signature twelve months ago when he was released by Bradford City.

He came on as a late substitute for Darlo during their 1-0 home defeat to St Mirren and looked fairly useful, with a couple of good corners according to posts on a Darlington website.

Dale fans will be most surprised and distressed to learn that Darlington defender Alan White was forcibly subbed in this game after an incident in which he lost the plot.
