Bullard's Future Still Up in the Air
Bullard's Future Still Up in the Air

Loan midfielder Jimmy Bullard says he is still unsure where he’ll be playing football next season. Town’s Player of the Year, who was speaking on this morning’s Soccer AM, was unaware of newspaper claims of interest from Norwich City, although he didn't rule out a possible summer move to Norfolk.

The 32-year-old says his future remains up in the air and that he hasn’t been able to get hold of Hull City manager Nigel Pearson: “I don’t know [what’s going to happen].

“I tried to phone the manager and everyone at Hull's on holiday! I’ve got two years left at Hull and I enjoyed my time there.

“What I want to do is play some football somewhere. I wasn’t playing at Hull, so to get some football next season would be top of the list.”

Bullard was unaware of newspaper links with the Canaries but didn’t dismiss the possibility of a switch north of the border: “Fantastic club, they did brilliant to get in the Premier League, so who knows? I haven’t been [taking any notice of speculation]. “

The former Peterborough and Fulham man revealed that doesn’t have an agent, choosing instead to discuss his deals himself, something he says doesn’t always go down well with managers: “I usually do [the negotiations] myself.

“It’s quite difficult sometimes. [Managers] don’t like confrontation a lot of them. Sometimes when it comes to contracts I can be [confrontational]!”

Bullard joked that his Town Player of the Year gong was more down to the rest of the squad’s failings than his own good displays and says he was surprised to win having played only 16 games: “We went to a function and they called my name out and I thought they were messing about. But they weren’t, I had won Player of the Year from the fans, which is great for me.

“I really enjoyed it at Ipswich, it was really good. I had three months there. I wasn’t playing at Hull, so I went down on loan and I enjoyed my time there under Paul Jewell. We had a good ending to the season, won a few games there and I scored a few goals.”

In addition to Town and Norwich, QPR have been tipped as other contenders for the one-time England call-up’s signature, while Bullard’s former clubs Wigan and West Ham have also been linked.
