Rotherham Confirm Brown Deal

League Two Rotherham United have confirmed that they have signed former Town defender Troy Brown, as first reported by TWTD in May. Brown, who has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, opted against accepting a third successive one-year deal at Portman Road, having initially indicated that he would be staying with the Blues.

Millers boss Andy Scott says he has known the Wales U21 international since he was a scholar at Fulham: "Troy is another young lad we have managed to sign.

"I have known him since his days at Fulham. He has good pace and good passing ability and he has played a few games for Ipswich.

“He now wants to establish himself as a first team player and he is hungry to do well. I have known his agent for a long time and between us we convinced him that it was the correct place to come to."

Despite the Londoner being below 24 years of age and having been offered a deal by the Blues, Town are not entitled to compensation with the defender’s new contract offer understood to be on reduced terms, as was the case with Tom Eastman, who joined Colchester earlier in the summer.

After being released by Fulham’s academy, Brown joined the Blues on trial in the summer of 2009, impressing first Jim Magilton and then Roy Keane before being offered a deal at Portman Road.

Having made his senior debut in the defeat to Sheffield United on the final day of the 2009/10 season, the centre-half or occasional right-back went on to make 10 starts and seven sub appearances while with Town.
