Town boss Paul Jewell is hoping to make signing number five of the summer next Tuesday with the sixth following soon afterwards. Already the Blues manager has added Michael Chopra, Ívar Ingimarsson, Nathan Ellington and Aaron Cresswell to the ranks during the close season.

Jewell says he's near to completing another deal, although was giving nothing away on the player's identity: "We are close, hopefully we'll make a signing next Tuesday.

“There are all kinds of names being bandied about, aren’t there? But we try and do it as quietly as we can.

"Hopefully by this time next week we'll have at least two players in here.”

As things stand, Jewell is targeting at least another three or four more players before the season starts on Saturday 6th August with a trip to Bristol City.
