Andrews snubs Leeds in favour of Ipswich
Andrews snubs Leeds in favour of Ipswich

Blackburn midfielder Keith Andrews has decided against a loan move to Leeds, due to an “opportunity elsewhere”. The other club who have led him astray are believed to be Ipswich Town.

For the second time in less than a week Ipswich have managed to attract a player who seemed to be heading for Elland Road, after goalkeeper David Stockdale opted to spend the next twelve months down in deepest Suffolk. Ipswich are now being subsidised by a multi-millionaire benefactor, and it seems that Ken Bates is unwilling or unable to match the wages they are able to offer.

The Yorkshire Post are quoting Andrews’ agent as saying "Keith won`t be coming to Leeds. Leeds are still interested (in the future), but he just feels there`s an opportunity somewhere else and at this moment in time, it`s the best opportunity for him. They may be a change in the future, but at the moment, he won`t be coming.

There have been seven or eight of the top Championship clubs interested in him and the decision has been made on the fact that he`s found the club where he`s comfortable and feels he can develop again."

This means that Leeds have still signed only three players this summer, two of whom are goalkeepers, which is very worrying with the season starting in four days time.
