Trust ballot on pitch covers Tuesday, 18th Oct 2011 16:30 by Col Members of the Dale Supporters Trust are currently being balloted to see whether funds previously raised for the now defunct Bowlee project should be used to purchase top class pitch covers for the Spotland playing surface. A sum of around £30,000 was raised by supporters during the promotion season of 2009-10 with the intention of securing training facilities for the club at Bowlee. However, this project was no longer considered benefical to the football club, and recently the club secured training facilities at Manor Farm in Cheshire. Since the sum was raised, the money has been sat (and continues to sit) in a high interest bank account, but with winter fast approaching, the Trust has been working with the club to pursue the possible purchase of some top class pitch covers to finally put an end to the problems which plight Spotland every winter. It is believed that the prospective pitch covers would offer protection against both frost and rainfall, and would be far superior to anything that has been used on the Spotland pitch, should members of the Dale Trust give the contribution to their purchase their backing in the vote. Members have been sent a ballot form in the post, and are asked to return their ballot form in the pre-paid envelope by Monday 31st October.
