Bye bye Beeby
Bye bye Beeby
Sunday, 2nd Aug 2009 11:28

Dale fans will be heartened to hear of the retirement of a certain referee from the Football League.

Referee Richard Beeby has called it a day on his refereeing in the Football League, bringing to an end ten years refereeing at this level.

Beeby will always remembered by Dale supporters for his sending off of David Perkins in the Play Off game against Darlington, for his challenge with Ricky Ravenhill. Beeby refused to back down on his decision when reviewing it afterwards meaning that Perkins who left the field in floods of tears missed out on the Wembley appearance.

Such was the outrage at that decision, his earlier poor decision to award the Quakers a penalty practically goes unmentioned.

Dale boss Keith Hill was also sent off by Beeby in a Dale v Darlo game, back in 1999-2000 for two bookable offences.

Dale have not been reffed by the former Premiership referee since that Play Off game, and are now spared a repeat showing by his retirement.
