Forty years on, a tribute to the Don

A statute of Don Revie has finally been unveiled at Elland Road, forty years to the day since he led the whites ' to FA cup glory over Arsenal.

The big unveiling was watched by thousands at Elland Road on Saturday morning. The statue, sculpted by Graham Ibbottson who curiously is a Birmingham fan but Revie admirer, was paid for by donations from fans up and down the country.

Chairman Ken Bates has bemoaned the lack of Revie recognition at the ground where he spent thirteen formidable seasons, however the occasion was also an opportunity to generate some much needed transfer funds for the latest man in the hot-seat Neil Warnock. Supporters had the opportunity to attend a pre-unveiling breakfast, a special dinner attended by several of the Revie team and the new replica home shirt went on sale for the first time.
