The Biggie Dates For Your Diary In The 2012/13 Premier League Season
The Biggie Dates For Your Diary In The 2012/13 Premier League Season

A look at what fixtures are likely to be the most eagerly awaited in season 2012/13 as Saints return to the Premier League for the first time in seven years.

Certain fixtures are always likely to attract more interest than others, be it in the Premier league or any other division I have watched Saints play in over the last forty or so years, of course every game is equally as important, but some just have that extra special feeling about them, many are generic, Man Utd, Liverpool & Arsenal to name but three, but everyone has a clash or two that they really look forward to for one reason or another.

Saints of course start with two out of three biggies, Man City away on the first weekend followed by the visit of the other Manchester club to St Mary's the next, but those big games just keep coming hard and fast, our fourth fixture is our first visit to the Emirates to face Arsenal, meaning that we couldnt have had a harder start in our first four games if we had tried.

October is quiet relatively speaking with only three games, but the visit of Spurs on the 27th will be relished, even if old Twitchy isnt at the helm any more.

November is a month when we really need to pick up the points if a relegation battle is to be avoided, four out of the five clubs will be amongst the bottom half come the end of the season and who would bet on Newcastle to repaeat their feats of last term.

December has two big road trips, Liverpool on the 1st of the month and then Chelsea a fortnight later, in fact a tough month in that four of the six fixtures are away from home to end the calendar year.

January will of course be broken up by the FA Cup, but Arsenal at St Mary's on New Years Day is a biggie and we end the month with our first trip to Old Trafford since our last spell in the top flight.

February is a quiet month, only three games, two away and then the visit of the Champions sandwiched in between, however after we have got March and the visits of Liverpool on the 16th and Chelsea on the 30th out of the way, we have a decent run in to the end of the season, in April and may we have seven fixtures and with the exception of Spurs, the other half dozen could all be against teams who might be in the bottom third of the table, the downside being that four of them are on the road, including Reading on the 6th April and the aforementioned purs on the 4th May, but all of these games are winable meaning that our destiny will b firmly in our own hands in the run in to the seasons finale, be it a shot at the top ten as promoted Norwich and Swansea did last term or pulling ourselves clear from the relegation mire.

The good news is that we don't have the run-in from hell. It's going to be hard to get points on the board early on but it's better to have it that way round.

Id agree with that, if we dont get much in the first four games we have a good excuse, but iof we do pull off a few shocks then its advantage to us

We just need to average two points per game. The more points we can get earlier on the easier that will be. It worked last season.
