Town Back in Premier Cup

Town have announced that they will be taking part in the Suffolk Premier Cup during the 2012/13 season. The Blues haven’t entered the competition, which they last won in 2009/10, for the last two seasons.

Manager Paul Jewell said: "We're looking forward to taking part in the Suffolk Premier Cup and facing local opposition."

Town have previously fielded reserves sides in the competition and are likely to do the same again with Jewell keen to give youngsters experience of playing against more senior players.

Lowestoft are the current holders having beaten Bury 4-2 in last year's final, which was played at Portman Road.

The draw for the Suffolk Premier Cup’s first round will be on BBC Radio Suffolk on Friday 20th July between 6.30pm and 7pm.

Meanwhile, Irish keeper Colin Doyle, who had been linked with the Blues earlier in the summer, has signed a new one-year deal with his current club Birmingham City.
