Coppinger Linked Again
Coppinger Linked Again

Town are reported to be renewing their interest in Doncaster Rovers midfielder James Coppinger. Having made an approach for the 31-year-old last summer, Blues boss Paul Jewell said he could make an enquiry regarding the former Exeter man at the end of the season but subsequently decided against a reviving his interest.

Rovers turned down an offer of £300,000 for the right-sided midfielder last summer when the Blues also made an approach for striker Billy Sharp, who joined Southampton in January.

Prior to Town’s final game of the season at the Keepmoat Stadium, Jewell said he planned to talk to Doncaster boss Dean Saunders regarding Coppinger - "I’ll speak with Deano on Saturday to see what the situation with the lad is” — but afterwards ruled out making a move: “I don’t think so. We’d like good players, he’s a good player, Coppinger, but I don’t think so.”
