LUST ask do GFH have the clout....or nowt?

The Leeds United Supporters Trust have raised a question on many fans lips, do GFH Capital have the clout to takeover Leeds United?

Acoording to GFH's David Haigh, a self-confessed Leeds fan they do and hope to complete the five-month saga "as soon as possible" with Haigh even saying a budget has been identified for the January transfer window.

However Gary Cooper, Chairman of the Leeds United Supporters Trust is quoted in today's Daily Mail as saying "Words do not buy football clubs, money does. We would expect to see evidence of GFH's ability to fulfil their claims in the very, very near future after the takeover".

Maybe Mr Cooper is smarting from a joint-statement last week issued by the club and GFH rubbishing many of LUST's claims, that they have "inside information" on the proposed deal and they are speaking to people in the know?

Many financial analysts however have pointed out that GFH had accumulated a quarter of a billion dollars in losses and had just £3.8m in cash back in June this year.

Haigh insists GFH has the funds to complete the deal, rumoured to be worth £52m and enough to enable Leeds to march on to the next-level.

One of the first things current owner Ken Bates has said is that he requires proof of funds before entering into any meaningful discussion with a potential investor and considering that Leeds entered into an "exclusivity period" with GFH in late June and confirmed they were satisfied GFH had both the funds and could satisfy the "fit and proper persons test" , it adds more mystery into the mix.

As I have said before, I wish a conclusion could be reached one way or another and they would get a wiggle on! I wouldnt be surprised if Birmingham, one of our forthcoming opponents who have recently put up for sale complete their own takeover before us!

At toellandback towers we've had the following missive, though of course we reported the Daily Mail quote in good faith. Who would have thought that such a reputable scandal rag like the Mail would behave like that?

"Cooper didn’t say that to the daily mail, he said it to me.

They just shamelessly lifted my piece…
