Kenny Jackett is clearly in the market to become Swans PR man

Of course there is a downside - his side stopped the Swans equalling a club record on Friday night so maybe that contributed to the nice tones as Millwall eased some of the relegation worries.

The Swans still have an eight point lead at the top of the table and could extend that on Tuesday night when Tranmere Rovers come to the Liberty Stadium for the next home game on the road to what seems to be a certain promotion.

And it is that promotion that Jackett believes can just be the first step on a long road to glory for the Swans “My time at Swansea came to the end. That was the way it was, you move on and now I’m very proud to be Millwall manager." he told the paper

“But I had three great years here and maybe I do look back and think ‘what if’ when you look at the play-off final and coming so close.

“But that’s life and that’s football, so you can’t think like that.

“I had three great years professionally and personally here. My family came here and loved the area, my two boys went to school here and we loved the city and its people and we’ve still all got friends here we keep in touch with.

“On all levels it was good times here for me and I hope people appreciated what I tried to do. I do look back and I am proud of what I managed to do. I’d like to think I played my part in a terrific rise by the club. Brian Flynn, myself and now Roberto have all done our bits and I can’t deny I’m proud of it.

“It’s good to see the future is looking as bright as ever and on the road to achieve what everyone at the club wants and deserves.

“I really think they could attack the Championship.

“They’re more than good enough for promotion and would be a credit to the Championship.

“They could follow the likes of Bristol City to the top of the Championship because they’ve got a good group of people here, including Roberto.

“The chairman’s been here right the way through and been a consistent factor in taking the club forward. I think he has very good vision and a very good determination in getting what’s right for the club.

“And in terms of Roberto as a manager he is a very positive person, very determined and very knowledgeable and those things are very good qualities for a manager.

“I like the way they play – it’s football for the Championship, there’s no doubt about that. They can get out on that big pitch and move the ball about. We’re trying to do the same with Milwall.

“I’m not surprised by any means at what they’ve done; they’re a good side, play good football, and players like Ferrie Bodde, who looks a tremendous player, show they have made good additions.

“The way they play is something I’d love to try to emulate myself with Millwall because it’s modern-day football that is very exciting to watch.

“I enjoyed every minute of my time here and, in the volatile industry I work in, three years at one club isn’t bad.

“When I came to Swansea I used to make sure the first results I saw were Watford and QPR and without a doubt Swansea are on that list now.”
