Nugent Appointed Reserve Team Manager

Nugent Takes Coaching Role

Swansea have sprung a little surprise by announcing Kevin Nugent as reserve team manager but also retaining his playing contract in case of need for next season.

Nugent was released by manager Kenny Jackett soon after last season closed but was today confirmed as the reserve team manager at the Vetch after obtaining his 'A' licence coaching badge. Jackett commented today "Kevin's a terrific lad who has a lot to offer the club, He's been through promotion campaigns.

"He'll be reserve team manager but can also provide playing cover, that's important in the era of small squads."

Swansea's official site broke the news this morning stating that the club feel this was a fitting reward for Nuge after his committment and dedication to the club since joining in January 2003. You would have to hope that there is more to this decision than just a reward and that we have learned from the mistakes of the past?

Meanwhile, it is strongly rumoured that the Swans will shortly appoint a goalkeeping coach in the shape of Tony Pennock who spent last summer at Swansea on trial.
