Swans Look To Return To League Winning Ways

It will be the busiest afternoon of the year in Swansea town centre tomorrow as people take advantage of the last Saturday before Christmas to get those last minute presents and the Swans start their Christmas programme of games with a home game against Notts County at the Vetch.

After the disappointment league wise of the past month, it is time for Swansea to get their season on track with a win in what will be the first of three home games in their next four fixtures. Following on from the visit of the league's oldest club tomorrow there follows home games against Boston and Yeovil after a trip to Kidderminster on Boxing Day.

The Swans lost their last home league match - 3-1 against Bury - but will be hoping to build on the late winner that saw them advance to the third round of the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

Kenny Jackett though will be forced into changes with Kris O'Leary likely to miss out through injury and Andy Robinson suspended. Alan Tate seems certain to move into midfield alongside captain Roberto Martinez and Marc Goodfellow could see himself starting again after two winning goals in the last three games.

Garry Monk begins the first of his much discussed four match ban handed out by the Welsh FA but this should see Izzy Iriekpen restored to the starting line up to partner Kevin Austin in the centre of the Swans defence. Paul Connor is expected to get the nod ahead of Kevin Nugent after his goal in midweek.

County, boosted by their own midweek cup win over League One side Swindon come to the Vetch with just four teams below them in the football league and looking to increase the distance between themselves and the two relegation spaces. They seem certain to be without French defender Julian Baudet whilst Mike Whitlow has tonsilitis and will miss the game. Experienced defender Rob Ullathorne is another one to miss out boosting the Swans slightly whose lack of firepower has also been much documented.

That has led Swans boss Kenny Jackett to allegedly enquire after Wrexham striker Chris Llewellyn although both clubs have denied that an official approach has been made.

The bookies will no doubt have this one pencilled down as one of their home bankers for the weekend and we can only hope that they are right.

Fingers crossed for 3pm tomorrow and C'MON THE JACKS!
