Ivor Allchurch Memorial Fund

Ivor Allchurch Memorial Fund

During the half time interval several months back a few of us 'olduns' on the North bank started talking about some of the Swans great players of the past. Not too surprisingly Ivor Allchurch came out on top and it was unanimously agreed that Ivor was one of the best - if not the best - player to ever wear a Swans shirt.

It was suggested that it would be a great tribute from Swans Fans to commission a bronze bust of Ivor and have it placed prominently in the new Stadium, not only as a mark of respect for the great man but also to provide an important historical link between the 'old ground' with the 'new'. The cost to commission a sculptor to undertake this project is in the region of £5,000.

Following enquiries with the Club it has been agreed that if a bronze bust was commissioned that it would take pride and place in the New Stadium.

A total of £237 was raised from the Raffle held at the Megabowl Bowling Night, in excess of £2000 was made from the race nite last weekend and along with other pledges approximately £2775 has been raised so far. All of which is very encouraging considering that the appeal has only just got off the ground.

Your support in raising or donating money to honour one of the greatest Welsh players that ever lived would be appreciated. Please contact 01792 477505 if you have any questions. Cheques can be made out to Swansea City Supporters Trust and sent to Swans Trust, 1st floor, 57 St. Helen's Road, Swansea SA1 4BE (please mark the envelope Ivor Allchurch Memorial Fund).
