Saints At Rotherham The Verdict

What can be said about this defeat.

There isnt a lot that can be said about the defeat at Rotherham as Saints went down tamely to a League 2 side for the fourth season running.

All Saints fans can do is hope that the manner of the defeat will shake up the squad and give a few people wake up calls.

Of course there will be many who will use this as another stick to beat Jan Poortvliet with and that will be the easiest thing in the world to do, however all saints fans should hope that this defeat will be used as a catalyst to haul ourselves up the league and in football you only find out the true character of a player or manager/coach when the chips are down.

But as i mentioned this is the fourth season in a row that Saints have lost to a basement club, so Poortvliet isnt unique in this respect, indeed George Burley lost two in a row, firstly to Notts County when he had a large squad available, a squad that went on to make the play offs and then last year to Peterborough in a game that if anything was more of a debacle that last night.

There isnt a lot more to be said about last night, what matter is that Saints have been beaten but the manner in which they come back.
