Swans Head East In Search Of Much Needed Boost

Leyton Orient v Swansea - Match Preview

From A Swansea Perspective

These are worrying times from a Swansea perspective. Whilst the season is still relatively young, we are in a bad patch that stretches back to a time when the Christmas Decorations were fresh and the presents under the tree unopened. I had hoped that last week's win over Doncaster may kick start something but that went out of the window with a defeat to Wycombe in the Carling Cup. Surely we are too strong a side to languish where we are at the moment but to prove that something - no, make that many things - need to change and improve

Team News

Where do you start on this one. Added to the injury problems that we had last week we add in this week fresh injuries to Lee Trundle, Dennis Lawrence and Leon Britton - all of whom will miss tomorrow's trip. Leon Knight does travel with his injury not as bad as first thought. On the plus side Alan Tate returns from suspension having missed four of the five games this season through that very reason. Darren Way is also expected to take a place on the bench as we extend a warm welcome back to the man who has missed so much of his Swansea career.

For the home side their captain misses out through suspension but would have been missing anyway through injury whilst Dave Partridge may also have to sit this one out. Former Swan Paul Connor is likely to start on the bench for the Os.

Form Guides

You would never have believed going into this fixture that Orient would be two points ahead of ourselves in the League One table. But a mixture of a bright start from them and complete indifference from us sees that as just the case. Two wins from two at Brisbane Road in the league suggests that this one is going to be far from easy for a side that has picked up one point from six on our travels so far. Definite advantage Leyton Orient as far as the Form Guides go.

What The Bookies Say

The bookies have decided that the two sides cannot be separated and offer the same odds - 6/4 - on both a home and an away victory. The draw is seen as the long shot at 9/4 but to be honest it may prove to be the better bet of the three match results.

As ever, news of injuries doesn't effect the market offered by Bet365 but please don't back their pre-match favourite for the first goal in Lee Trundle at 9/2. Leon Knight is next up at 5/1 with Rory Fallon available for the Swans at 6/1. For the home side there are no surprises that Gary Alexander pops up as their leading chance at 11/2 with Lee Steele at 6/1. If you fancy Darren Pratley to repeat his strike from midweek then he is a nice sounding 14/1 for the first goal. Izzy is our defender who seems most likely to score and if you fancy that to be first then back him at a whopping 50/1.

I fancy this game to be a draw and if I wanted to back a double tomorrow then It would probably be with Alexander to score first - double that up with a 2-2 draw at odds of 65/1 for a good Saturday night out if I am right!

What Do The Fans Think?

The optimism is slightly waning now at the Liberty and one in four of the predictions to date in the prediction league have said that we are going to lose this one - by far the highest number so far this season. Over half are still saying a Swansea win but there may need to be some re-thinks on scorer with Trundle topping the choice of around 1 in 4.

JackArmy.net Predicts

Two predictions right from four so far sees us going into the game with a chance of making it more than 50% accuracy on result even if it is not scorer. I saw Orient last night against West Brom and they looked good despite losing. Is two games in forty eight hours too much for them though? We are down to the bare bones which I would love to say will see us coming out fighting but I just cannot see it at the moment. I do think we'll sneak a point though, which, all things considered won't be a bad result but at the same time not enough to ease the pressure significantly. The two sides will share four goals.
