Swansea City are on the hunt for a new manager once again after the announcement that they had parted company with manager Kenny Jackett 'via mutual consent' this morning.

The news was confirmed from the club this morning that Jackett would be leaving with immediate effect having overseen his last game - a 1-0 home defeat against Oldham - last weekend.

Jackett joined the Swans in April 2004 and led them to promotion in his first season in charge as well as a FAW Premier Cup victory for the last ever game at the Vetch Field. The move to the Liberty Stadium gave the club extra optimism and that was almost rewarded as Jackett almost delivered a second successive promotion - only a penalties defeat to Barnsley at the Millennium stadium prevented the Swans lining up in this season's Championship. Two more trophies were added to the cabinet though - both the Football League Trophy and the FAW Premier Cup being secured by the Swans

This season though Jackett had come under much criticism from the fanbase and defeats to Port Talbot in the FAW Premier Cup and three defeats in the last three games had really raised the heat on the manager. However, it did appear that with Jenkins comments in the Evening Post that Jackett would be here for the foreseeable future but clearly after discussions after that article both sides felt that they could not move forward.

Kevin Nugent steps into the role of caretaker manager ahead of arguably the three biggest games of the season and the Swans start the search for a replacement for Kenny.
