Duffy Hints At Liberty Stay

Darryl Duffy may not have got on the scoresheet but he saw plenty to be positive about as he contemplated a return to Hull after a successful loan spell at the Liberty Stadium.

With defeat at home to Blackpool on Saturday condemning the Swans to another season in League One, Duffy is now due to return to Hull but it is clear from his words that he would like to extend his spell in Swansea.

Duffy has scored five goals in his time at the club - including two braces at the Liberty and that ever so late winner at Carlisle last weekend. And speaking immediately after the 6-3 defeat by Blackpool, Duffy said "Whether I'm here or not, there's still a great opportunity here for us next season if we continue playing this kind of football.

"But I would like to stay, we've played some smashing football but ultimately it's down to Hull.

"I've got to go back there and see what they have to say but hopefully it can all be sorted as soon as we can."

It is understood that Hartlepool - with whom Duffy also spent a loan spell this season - are interested and it is also reported that Hull may want to recoup the £250,000 they paid Falkirk for the striker.

On yesterday's game, Duffy added "It wasn't great at times but we started the second half brilliantly and got right back into things. But then we shot ourselves right in the foot and it was difficult to come back.

"If we had managed to get control of the ball we would have won it - we're a good enough side to keep the ball off teams but they replied very quickly after our goals.

"They took their chances well and there were some smashing goals - just not enough at the right end."
