Darlington have announced the £100,000 signing of Pawel Abbott on their official website. The striker leaves the Liberty after just a six month stay.

The story on Darlo's site reads

Darlington boss Dave Penney has added major firepower to his squad with the £100,000 signing of Swansea striker Pawel Abbott.

The 25-year-old former Poland Under-21 international has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, subject to a medical on Monday which is expected to be a formality.

Abbott, who was born in York of Polish parents, scored 51 goals in 126 games during a three year spell at Huddersfield Town before moving to Swansea.

Boss Dave Penney said: "Pawel is a proven goalscorer at this level and higher. He's got a great habit of scoring goals and is a player who will excite the fans.

"Pawel will link up with his new team mates on Monday following his medical. It is another piece in the jigsaw but I expect there to be one or two more new faces joining pre-season training before we kick off against Wrexham on 11 August."

Abbott's departure surely leaves the door open for Swansea to complete the signature of Darryl Duffy with the Evening Post advising that a new signing will be announced tomorrow.
