Ferrie Targets League Title

Ferrie Targets Top Spot

Ferrie Bodde was basking in the glory of his first Swansea goal and was adamant that his target was now to keep his side top of the league after scaling the summit for the first time this season.

Bodde opened the scoring at Bournemouth on Sunday as the Swans coasted to a 4-1 victory which moved them top of the league on goal difference from both Tranmere and Orient. And, after receiving rave reviews for his performances since his summer move to the Liberty, Bodde is now determined to repay the fans by helping deliver the ultimate dream for the season - promotion to the Championship.

"It's great to be top of the league," Ferrie told the Evening Post.

"That's where the team, the fans and the club want to be and my target now is to stay there. "It's only October, but if we keep playing the way we are, with confidence and working each for other, then we can stay up at the top. "We don't want to put too much pressure on ourselves, but we are a good side and I think we will be up there if we keep playing as we are.

"We have had some difficult times already this season where we've lost games we shouldn't have lost "We have played well in games and not come away with the points. "But everybody, the whole team, is working hard to get the result. "We are all working for each other and that's making us believe we can win games.

"I've only scored 14 goals in my career, so I was pleased to get my first for Swansea," Bodde said. "But the important thing was the win at Bournemouth and I feel more happy because the team is a real team. "There is a good feeling around and that's why we're winning games."
