Horsham Boss Promises Attack

Horsham Boss Promises Attack

Far from sitting back and trying to absorb any Swansea pressure, Horsham boss John Maggs insists that his side will be going for the win on Friday night in the Sky TV covered FA Cup 2nd Round tie.

Speaking the day before his side's first game at this stage of the competition, Maggs was in confident mood and believed that if the game plan was good his side could cause the upset of the round by dumping the League One leaders from the competition.

Speaking in the Argus newspaper, Maggs said "We have a squeak of a chance if we put it together and do the business because on our day we are a match for anyone.

"I'm not going to change anything, I'm a 4-4-2 man and that is how I think it should be played at non-league level.

"There are no hidden secrets. Swansea have watched us and they will know what we're going to do "I'm not going to give them any surprises. I'm old school and think that you should stick to what you do best.

"I want to score a goal and want to go through so we're not going to go out to sit back and defend.

"If we get beaten and have put in a performance then everyone will say the players and the club have done extremely well so we have nothing to lose.

"It is a massive game for the players and I want them to have a go. We won't get another chance like this so why not go for it?

"We have got to be encouraged by the Billericay result and Staines did exceptionally well last week as well by knocking out a league club.

"The difference is that Swansea are top of the league and are the highest team we could have drawn because Championship sides don't come into it until the next round.

"They are above teams like Nottingham Forest and Leeds and they are up there on merit. The odds are stacked against us but it has been done before. That is why the FA Cup is such a good competition.

"We had a game on the pitch the other night and it got chewed up a bit.

"We have covered it up and it will stay like that until kick-off. It is a bit soft but by the time of the game it will be very good by non-league standards.

"It could work to our advantage. I sent Rob Frankland to watch Swansea the other night and he said the pitch was magnificent. It was like a carpet and he half fancies us getting a draw just so we can go and play on it."
