Johnson: The Lads Worked Hard
Johnson: The Lads Worked Hard

Gary Johnson was not too downbeat despite his side being beaten 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium

The Robins boss told the Bristol City official site "We've got two games left now and we'll continue to assess things in those games, but we must always look to the future.

"The chairman came in before the game and gave a great speech about the future of the club. He is someone who has put his money where his mouth is.

"It was a rousing speech for the future, and we all want to be a part of it. The next couple of games will be where we look at it. I need to know from our out-of-contract players whether they are with us, or have other things on their mind.

"We have to take this club forward progressively.

"I thought the lads worked hard. There have been occasions where we've asked for more from them, but today we couldn't have any complaints.

"We matched their shape, kept the ball and created opportunities without really forcing their keeper to make many saves.

"The difference was in both penalty areas and that's been the story for a little while now. We know what we've got to improve - it's been highlighted for us in the last few games.

"We're all going to be heading home disappointed; me, the players and the supporters.

"I think the supporters have been fantastic for us this season, and it's a shame when reports and headlines make it look like I've disrespected them.

"I don't want our supporters to think that. They've been magnificent for us all season."
