Chairman: We Don't Have The Money Yet

Huw Jenkins has revealed that the Swans will not receive all their Wigan money this season

The Chairman was explaining some of the terms of the Wigan deal via the official site and confirmed that the figures quoted by the press do not mean that the money is actually in the club's coffers.

Jenkins said "The money for Roberto and for Jason is spread over two seasons.

"Everybody thinks we are just piling up the money in the bank and saving it for a raint day but it's not like that.

"The deals we've been involved in this summer just show you the way things work in this day and age especially with a lot of Premier League clubs.

"They are stretching themselves so much that with a lot of the deals they are trying to negotiate spreadh payments over one, two or three years.

"That's something we have to deal with because it's the nature of the way things are bing done.

"We could do the same - that's the easy answer.  But we don't like doing that at this club.

"Nobody knows what the next year is going to bring and at Swansea City we like to make sure any deals are covered in the budget in the year we bring them in.

"Everybody works on a never never basis in football but we try to pay for things as we have them.

"We operate in a more sensible way and we are quite happy with the way we work.

"We only look to spend what is guaranteed to come in during that season."
