Tom Butler has backed Roy Keane to turn around the fortunes at Ipswich - but only after making them worse on Saturday

Butler travels with Swansea City to Portman Road at the weekend with the Irishman hoping to add to the woes of his fellow countryman.

Keane is still looking for the Tractor Boys first league win of the season and Butler doesn't want that to be against the Swans although he does believe that Keane will eventually turn the fortunes around at Ipswich

Speaking to the Evening Post, Butler said "I don't want to see him struggle, as he went there with the best intentions,

"It takes time for the players to take on board the information. It was similar for us at the start, but we have picked up over the past six games.

"Roy is hoping for something similar at Ipswich — a win or two would kick-start their season.

"They have everything in place for them to really take off — the players, the manager and coaching staff.

"They have a manager who has been through tough times and his experience should get them out.

"Sunderland were near the bottom of the Championship before he arrived and he turned it around and took them back up to the Premier League.

"Once the players break their duck they can really fly up the table, because they have everything at their disposal.

"It is unpredictable in many ways. As a player he trained hard, was very quiet, but a great professional.

"I don't think Roy will stop because he will keep working hard on turning Ipswich around.

"You feel it is a matter of time before they turn it around, but I'm hoping it won't start tomorrow. We are not going there feeling sorry for them. We want to keep our run going and that means winning at Ipswich.

"I don't think he will remember me," he said.

"We were involved in a couple of squads together at international level, but he kept himself to himself — that's the man he is."
