Darren Pratley is refusing to write off Sheffield Wednesday despite their lowly league position

Wednesday find themselves in the bottom three of the Championship and this week sacked Brian Laws from their managerial seat.

But despite finding themselves in a significantly better position than their weekend hosts, Swans midfielder Darren Pratley is refusing to write off Wednesday and told the Evening Post

"It's always going to be tough against a team that hasn't got a manager," said the midfielder.

"The players need to do well to show they are good enough for the club.

"They want to impress potential managers that are in the crowd.

"They will be giving an extra 10 per cent, and we will have to match that — maybe a bit more — because they will be fired up for this because of the circumstances.

"We will have to deal with quite a bit of pressure, but we are used to that. Hopefully it will see a different reaction from us.

They have to start getting results, and they will be looking to do that starting on Saturday," he added.

"When teams are losing the confidence is low, but they will be ready to scrap it out.

"We saw the same kind of thing at Barnsley and Peterborough as they had just installed a new manager and they were throwing everything at us.

"But Wednesday are a massive club and have a lot of history behind them. They have a lot of good players and I'm surprised they are down there," added Pratley.

"I don't think they will go down. They have plenty of games to come and a few wins will send them flying up the league as it's so tight."
