"Buy British" Says Caretaker Curt
Tuesday, 6th Jul 2010 13:27

Alan Curtis believes that it may be time to recruit a British manager to replace Paulo Sousa

Curtis yet again finds himself in charge of Swansea City after Sousa left for the Leicester job and - maybe not unsurprisingly - he ruled himself out of wanting the job on a permanent basis.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Curtis said "They were both successful, Roberto (Martinez) and Paulo, but it will be interesting to see if we go down the foreign route again

"From a personal point of view I would like to see a British-type manager come in this time.

"We need a bit of stability, so Graeme Jones, Paul Tisdale, Gary Speed, whoever comes in will certainly inherit a good group of players.

"The big problem last year was scoring goals and if we can remedy that then we should have another very good season.

"It's not for me," he said.

"It's maybe something I would have tried 10 or 15 years ago, but I've seen what it's done to different managers.

"Caretaker's okay because you can pass it back on — it's like looking after the grandchildren.

"There's no rush. We've got almost five weeks until the start of the season.

"I'm sure there will be a list of applicants interested in the job and we just need to take our time."
