Craig Beattie believes that the Swans have what it takes to make the Premier League

The Swansea City striker will line up against one of his former clubs on Saturday when the Swans make the trip to Bramall Lane for the league fixture.

Beattie was part of the Sheffield United set up when they lost the play off final two years ago to Burnley but he believes that Swansea now have the ability to make the step up having experienced defeat at the last hurdle.

"It will be strange going back to Bramall Lane because I had a great time there," Beattie told the Evening Post. "It was one of the best times of my career, but that play-off final defeat was the biggest disappointment I've had.

"We went well that season and it looked like we would have enough to go up, but we fell just short. It was heartbreaking for the club. The boys were absolutely gutted.

"Even though I was on loan I still felt the pain because I was at the club for three months

"But I'm at a club now where I think promotion is definitely achievable. Losing at the last hurdle was very painful, but we have the quality at Swansea to get over the line. I don't see why we won't do it.

"It's not great for me to see an ex-club struggling because I have a lot of mates up there who I still talk to," he said. "They have been through a lot of changes with new players and managers since I was there, which was only a year and a half ago.

"But it's no time for being sympathetic — we have got to go there and win. It may be seen as a great time to play them, but it could be a very dangerous time to go there.

"There will be boys there who don't know who will come in (as manager) or who's watching them. There's never a good time to go to Bramall Lane so it will be a very difficult afternoon for us."
