Leon Britton wants the Swans fans to still believe that they can get promotion to the Premier League

The Swansea City midfielder wants supporters to remain very much behind the team despite some poor away form that has seen them fall behind the teams chasing a top two place.

"Four away defeats on the trot is not good enough at any time, whatever you are fighting for" he told the Western Mail

“It’s not the form we are looking for, but we’ve got a big weekend with two games in three days and things can change so quickly.

“Realistically, we need to win our last four games and hope other results go our way to stand a chance.

“We need to clear our heads and go again.”

In a direct plea to the fans, he added: “Please stick with us like you have the whole time I’ve been here. You’ve been brilliant.

“The result at Burnley didn’t go our way, but the players are giving everything and will continue to do so right until the end.

“Even if we don’t make the top two and it ends up being the play-offs, which will be a great achievement, we need everyone behind us.

“In the first half we hit the post twice and were looking pretty confident up until we scored really,” said Britton.

“We just needed the goal, which we got, so it’s disappointing to finish the game losing 2-1 and come away with nothing.

“We didn’t play that badly so it’s unfortunate in one way.

“The goals are hard to swallow if you like, but it happens in football and now we need to look to the next game.

“It’s not over. You’ve got to keep going until it’s mathematically impossible.

“It makes it more difficult for us with other teams winning, there’s no doubt about that, but we’ve just got to win our remaining games. Even then it might not be enough, but that’s all we can do.

“We’ll try and win every game and then take it from there.

“We don’t want to be looking over our shoulder, we want to be looking forward.

“We want to concentrate on getting wins because as soon as you start looking behind you, you start worrying.

“We need to win games and if we do that I’m sure we’ll be OK.

“There’s no point dwelling on things, we’ve got two games in three days next weekend which is a good chance to pick up six points in a short space of time and try to move up the table.”
