Saints V Norwich The Verdict
Saints V Norwich The Verdict
Wednesday, 16th Dec 2009 00:31

Someone should have told Norwich they were a weakened side.

After a solid start and taking the lead, Saints lost their way a little and found themselves behind and to be honest totally out passed by the Canaries.
In truth Norwich were in command but seemed to lose their composure towards the end and wanted to show they had steel by kicking lumps out of Saints and added to that rolling around every time they were touched themselves.

At no time did Saints look like getting an equaliser and the crowds were heading to the exit when Norwich's cheating ways backfired on them.

With Norwich trying to keep the ball in the corner, Sainnts were awarded a free kick, you felt that once they took it the final whistle might blow, but the antics of the Norwich player claiming he had been elbowed seemed to be the last straw for the ref and he waved the protest away, you felt that he was allowing Saints one last throw of the dice and they took it, to be honest Norwich were robbed and boy did they paay dearly.

The penalty shootout was tense, but you felt that perhaps Saints having found themselves in this unexpected position felt that perhaps it was their night after all and indeed it was.

Bart Bialkowski was the hero of the shootout, to be fair keepers can often be hero's in these things, but its purely luck and you felt as the kicks dragged on Bart looked bigger with each one and that was proved at the end.

Only sour point was the heavy handedness of some of the stewards when some fairly young kids invaded the pitch, the original child was carried off and didnt really need to be, whilst another was wrestled to the ground, whilst most saints fans would accept that going on the pitch was a no no, sometimes emotion does get the better of some and it was only a few kids and good natured, so a little heavy handed
