Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that the club have agreed a club record fee for midfielder  Ki Sung-Yeung

Jenkins said: “We have agreed a fee with Celtic for Ki. We are currently holding discussion with player and agent over personal terms.

“We are aware of other clubs interest but we are hopeful we can conclude a deal in the next 24 hours. We feel he is a very exciting young player who has a good career infront of him.”

Speaking after Ki failed to travel to Sweden for Celtic's Champions League clash with Helsinborgs, Mjallby did not confirm it was Swansea who had stumped up the cash with QPR and Fulham also in the hunt for the energetic 6ft 2in middle man, dubbed the 'Korean Steven Gerrard'.

But he said: "He is keen to move on and the club is in discussion with another club. There have been a few clubs interested in him.I know for sure there has been one bid for him. He is a quality player, but he is keen to move on, so the club needs to do something. He was away at the Olympics for a period of time, but we will be sorry to see him go."

And Celtic officials later admitted it was Laudrup who had made the first move, with Lennon adding: "It will be unfortunate to lose a talented player but that's been our strategy at the club now for the last two or three years.

"We cultivate players then move them on. We feel it's good business."
