Tottenham 1 Swansea 0 - Post Match Reactions
Sunday, 25th Aug 2013 23:23

Roberto Soldado's second half penalty was the only goal between the two sides at White Hart Lane this afternoon but the reality was Tottenham were good value for their win and deserved the three points.

The Swans can though take some positives from the game thanks to their display after they went a goal down and there are definitely lessons to be learned from the game and quite possibly a clear indication of what is our strongest line up.

So what were both sides saying after the game this afternoon?

Tottenham Manager Andre Villas Boas

“At the moment, these are excellent signs, signs of a team that is mature and knows what to do to gain the right result

“You never know what can happen in the future but at the moment we’re showing a winning mentality and that’s helping us to get results. It’s a good start.

“We deserved to win, created lots of chances, were sound defensively and that’s why we had so much of the ball against a team that normally dominates other teams.

“Our shape was tremendous, Capoue protecting and Paulinho’s workrate was immense. I’m really happy with the performance.”

Swans boss Michael Laudrup

“When there’s a situation in the box, when it is given or not given, we know the referee has to make that decision in one second when we can look many times after the game

“But when you play against a team like Tottenham, and you accept they will have a few chances, then they get a penalty that wasn’t a penalty.

“They had a couple of big chances in the last 15 minutes of the first half and there was a great save from Michel Vorm, but apart from that there was nothing. There was a free-kick given outside the box that maybe should have been a penalty but the penalty was not a penalty. I don’t want to say it’s frustrating, you have to accept it. You can always discuss the penalty but it’s given and they scored and they won.”
