Ryan Hall suspended by the club
Ryan Hall suspended by the club

Ryan Hall has been suspended by the club because of a ‘disciplinary issue’, which is believed to relate to the player’s twitter account.

A statement on the club’s official website says “Leeds United can confirm that Ryan Hall has been suspended from the club pending an investigation into a disciplinary issue. No further comment will be made at this stage.”

Hall always seemed to be a surprising purchase by Neil Warnock, given that he was out of favour a club in a division lower than ourselves, and had a reputation that should have warned us he was likely to be trouble, judging by his charge for Affray in 2011.

He had made just three starts for Leeds and none have come under the present boss, even though McDermott has complained that the squad he inherited was ‘lacking width’. He has spent some time on loan at Sheffield United this season, helping the Blades to plunge even further towards the wrong end of League One.

As one report suggested the suspension was something to do with the winger’s twitter account, I thought I ought to pop in and have a look, in the interests of research. In early September he was repeatedly posting “good day in training”, and yet “Hard work doesn't pay off in all circumstances, trust me”.

By Saturday the frustration of it all was obviously getting to him and he tweeted” Look on the bright side if your not getting played take the L out and get payed”. (Which presumably should be ‘paid’). He got some reaction to that, so yesterday morning he posted “Hahaha just woke up and seen all these tweets what small minded people anyway all the best to the boys today hope we get 3 points”.

And his final justification for accepting all the money the club were prepared to pay him… “football is such a short career and can end at anytime with an injury so do what ever you can to earn as much money as possible”.

Evidently someone in the club has now taken exception to all of this and Hall has found himself suspended. Hall was obviously well out of favour even before this latest episode, so it’s fair to assume that we’ve seen the last of him in a Leeds shirt, and he’ll be on his way as soon as we can find someone to take him off out hands.
