Back Morrison to bring home the points for QPR - betting
Friday, 14th Mar 2014 20:24 by Andy Hillman and Owen Goulding

QPR's form may be stuttering, but the LFW pundits were back on song last week with a host of winners. Here's what they're tipping this week…

Andy Hillman

A return to form for me last time out, with three winners coming in at evens or better as Man Utd, QPR and the German giants all recorded fairly comfortable victories. From the looks of the forum those of a betting persuasion have done well for themselves over at Cheltenham this week - he’s hoping that some of that luck can continue into the next few weeks for QPR

NAP of the Week: Hull vs Man City - City to win, BTTS @ 12/5

I have to confess that when I made this my NAP I hadn’t actually checked the odds, so it’s a bit embarrassing having a better than 2/1 shot your ‘most likely to come in bet of the week’, but I like the bet, and it certainly has value if nothing else. Man City will have enough going forward to beat Hull, but defensively they are suspect, and when the partner for Vincent Kompany is the Sophie’s Choice that is either Demichelis or Lescott, Hull will fancy getting themselves a goal.

QPR related bet - QPR Win to Nil @ 13/10

Finally called a QPR win right away at Birmingham , and despite our ongoing striker problems, I see another victory on Saturday. Yeovil may have been on a bit of a run recently, but our disjointed team should clearly be too much for the Glovers. I expect another 2-0 win, and probably Morrison getting them, because if he doesn’t score them, who will?

German Handicap Double @ 3/1

Both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have routine home games this weekend that they should win comfortably (is there any other sort of win for Munich?) there’s no value in backing the straight win on either match, but you can get evens on the Dortmund -1 handicap, and evens on a Munich -2 handicap. Put the two together and you’ve got a fairly simple 3/1 shot. If you think that Munich -2 is possibly a little bold, you can get 2/1 on the same double with Munich -1 instead.

Super Sunday - Away Double 7/1

A more Super Sunday than some of the stuff we’ve been served up with recently sees the North London Derby and the ‘most detestable set of fans derby’ taking place. Liverpool look a good bet to do the double over Man Utd, who continue to struggle at home where they’re expected (and fail) to set the tempo of the game, and poor old Tim Sherwood could fall into a barrel of boobs and come up sucking his thumb at the moment. (Thank you Ian Holloway..) Arsenal and Liverpool to both win is 7/1, which looks a pretty decent price in the circumstances.

Roma vs Udinese - Roma Win to Nil @13/10

Old faithful, back it every week, always at better than evens. Roma still just don’t concede goals at home, and still have the best defensive record in Europe . The season ending injury suffered by Kevin Strootman (the signing that Moyes should have been making whilst pissballing around with Fellaini) is a blow, but Totti is back, and even at 37, is still instrumental in everything Roma do.

The Pro

As I left the Amex on Tuesday night, I couldn't help but wonder how Rangers had managed to lose that game. It was a game dominated by the Super Hoops but they defended appallingly in the last ten minutes to guarantee a defeat that should never of happened. That said, in truth, I never felt at any time during the game we would score. QPR's problems are highlighted by the fact Armand Traore, a player who has played over 100 career games, the majority as a 'defender', and has scored a total of two goals, is looking our most likely source of a goal behind Ravel Morrison. Harry can bleat on as much as he likes regarding injuries, but he brought in Maiga, Keane and Benayoun among others, yet still chooses to play Traore instead (rightly so in my opinion), but therefore you have to question his tactics/transfer policy. For me, he has a lot to answer for.

I feel a bit sorry for Morrison - you can tell from his touch and desire to be on the ball all the time, he deserves to be playing at a higher level than we currently offer him, and he is on a different wavelength to most of the players surrounding him. It would be excellent to see him alongside Austin but it's not going to happen in the near future and as such, he is going to have to take the goal scoring burden firmly on his own shoulders.
Yeovil come to Loftus Road in mixed form themselves. Still in the relegation zone, their away form is not helping their cause. They have only won once in their previous eight away games, and that was a 2-0 win at St Andrew's (sound familiar). Ex Hoop Ishmael Miller holds all the cards for them at present and although expected to play, he has been troubled by hamstring injuries recently and this hopefully will help keep him quiet as otherwise, Dunne and Hill are in for a busy day. That said, Yeovil's defence is the problem.

They have only kept two clean sheets in their last sixteen games and even with QPR's toothless attack at the moment, Paddy Power go 12/5 Morrison scores at anytime. That equates to roughly a 30% chance of scoring. I make the true odds based on the likely team Harry will put out as nearer 40% so therefore that is the bet for me.

Recommended bet: Ravel Morrison to score at anytime - 12/5 (Paddy Power)

Elsewhere, the bet of the weekend comes betting against our victors the other night. Bolton have found a nice patch of form in recent weeks, unbeaten in their last five games, scoring 12 goals in the process. Bolton are available at 6/4 generally at home and this seems much too big against an average Brighton side who rely very heavily on the excellent Leonardo Ulloa.

Bet of Weekend : Bolton to Beat Brighton 6/4 (general)
