Big Weekend Of Football For Southampton Ahead
Tuesday, 6th May 2014 09:24

Its a big weekend for the Southampton area coming up with Saints and Sholing having games in the national spotlight.

Most Saints supporters will be looking forward to Sunday's curtain closer at St Mary's against Manchester United in a game where Saints could gain revenge for United beating them at St Mary's back in 2005 and ensuring relegation to the Championship, that game almost exactly 9 years to the day rankles with Saints supporters not just because it was United who did the deed, but the way in which certain members of the United squad warming down after the game made disrespectful gestures at some of the distraught Saints supporters still in the ground, the biggest culprit being that bastion of morality Roy Keane.

So it would be sweet if Saints could repay United by taking the points off them that would see them fail to qualify for European competition this season, of course United cant make the Champions League, but they could possibly sneak into the Europa League if assuming United beat Hull this week, Spurs fail to pick up at least a point at home to Aston Villa on Sunday.

But before Saints face United there is another big game involving a Southampton team, Sholing FC go to Wembley to face West Aukland Fc in the FA Vase final at Wembley and will look to go one better than local rivals AFC Totton who lost to Truro in the same competiton a few years ago.

The bulk of those travelling up to Wembley will be Saints supporters first and foremost, so this game will make it a bumper weekend for them as not only the residents of Sholing but the whole area unite to back the Boatmen

Of course there are plenty of tickets available and travel can be arranged via the same firm that arrange independent coaches to all the Saints away games.

Come on West Aukland FC, I don't care for Sholing FC as a club at all; even if they are from Southampton; I hope they lose.
