City Aim To Go Top
Tuesday, 6th May 2014 20:05

Manchester City go in to tomorrow's game knowing a win will take them two points clear of Liverpool in the race for the tittle.

Team News

City will be with out striker Sergio Aguero who limped off in the 3-2 win over Everton on Saturday, but Yaya Toure is fit and will play after being taken off as a precaution in the win. Jesus Navas is also available after over coming a knee injury.

Villa have doubts over striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and are already with out fellow strikers Christian Benteke and Libor Kozak, whilst defender Joe Bennett is also struggling with an ankle injury that has seen him miss the last two games.

Referee Watch

At just 25 years of age, Michael Oliver became the youngest referee in Premier League history when he took charge of Birmingham City’s clash with Blackburn Rovers in August 2010, and he has remained a top flight official ever since.

Stats

City have scored 15 goals in their last five games at the Etihad.

They have now scored 96 Premier League goals this season, surpassing their previous record of 93 in 2011-12. It is now their third-highest top-flight scoring season ever (after 107 in 1936-37 and 104 in 1957-58).

Yaya Toure needs one more goal to become only the second central midfielder to score 20+ goals in a Premier League season (after Frank Lampard with 22 in 2009-10).

Aston Villa have lost seven of their last ten away matches.

Only Chelsea (16 points) have a better record than Aston Villa (10 points) against the current top four in the Premier League this season (W3, D1).

They have won their last three league matches on a Wednesday.
