Wilson Leaves U's
Tuesday, 6th May 2014 20:20

Skipper Brian Wilson has played his last game for the club after rejecting a new contract. The 30-year-old spent four years at United Way, making 163 appearances (162 starts/1 sub) and scoring three goals.

Speaking to the EADT, Joe Dunne confirmed: "Brian has moved on, although I did try to keep him.

"I understand the difficult situation that he is in, in the financial market.

"There are clubs out there able to pay more than us, and it’s difficult when his family lives in a different part of the country.

"I fully respect Brian. He was my captain and I did try to keep him."

Meanwhile, youngsters Jordan Sanderson and Shaun Phillips have both been released. Midfielder Sanderson made two substitute appearances for the senior squad, while keeper Phillips failed to break into the first team.
