Vincent Kompany has described Edin Dzeko as “simply one of the best players in the world in his position” after his goal for Boznia against Belguim in Monday’s Euro 2016 qualifier draw.

Kompany joked: “I find it more important that he will score on Saturday. In that case, I definitely want to buy him a beer!”

Dzeko joined City for £27million from Wolfsburg in 2011, scoring six times in seven appearances against the Spurs who are this Saturday's opponents .

Edin as also been praised in the news for his actions after Serbia’s match against Albania was abandoned.

The game was called off after a drone with a political message cause conflict between players and fans with Kolarov trying to play peace maker.

The Express has praised Kolarov for trying to protect other players as fans entered the field of play.
