Saints TV Cash Bonus Emphasises How The Rich Get Rich In The Premier League Friday, 28th Nov 2014 09:01 Saints will pick up in the region of £3 million pounds in the space of a fortnight for doing nothing else other than be televised. Starting with the trip to Aston Villa Saints have a run of four matches all televised live in the space of a two week period and with each game resulting in a £750k fee for each side that means that the club will bank £3 million for doing nothing different apart from being shown live. This shows the gulf between the top sides in the Premier League who are on TV virtually week in week out and the rest of the division who like Saints up until this season only got a handful of appearances shown live each season. Now Saints are getting a taste of that cash bonanza with this two week period yielding four live games whereas in a season Saints would have been lucky to have got six or seven in an entire season (although each Premier club is guaranteed to get paid for ten games whether they are shown that number of times or not), and with a further four games scheduled for live showing after Xmas, that will mean that by the time they play Swansea in front of the cameras on February 1st, of the 23 games played, 9 will have been shown live on TV netting Saints £6.75 million in TV fees and this is only up till the current schedules announced till the end of January, if Saints continue their good form there could be more with games televised in the final 15 of the season. Although Saints probably need the cash less than at any time in their history, the fact is now we are being run as a business and all avenues of bringing in income are being cultivated, unlike the last few seasons where generating corporate income and sponsorship were neglected, all money brought into the club is seen as vital, the extra TV money we receive this season could well cover a fee for Toby Alderweireld for instance if that move is made permanent, thus freeing up more money for further improvement in the squad.. The incomes that are coming into the Club show that Saints are now amongst the big boys, luckily we are finally waking up to that fact and putting into place the infrastructure to match most in the Premier, if we do that then we will continue to march on.
