Saints are being linked with Dutch International midfielder Wesley Sneijder who could be available in the January transfer window.

Sneijder is currently at Turkish side Galatasaray for whom he signed in January 2013 for £8 million and is rumoured to be on £2.5 million per year in salary, however the Turkish side are suffering a financial crisis and at times have been late paying the Dutchman so would be keen to get him off their age bill in January.

Saints could face competition from Manchester United with Sneijder having played for the Dutch national team for the last two years under current Ute manager Van Goal.

I think he could fit quite well into our team, relieving some of the burdens currently on a few of our players. Can't help but think that he is on substantially more than the quoted 50 grand a week. A player of his calibre and pedigree would surely be earning something more like 150 or 200 grand a week, but if we can get him for a small fee and only 50 k a week, then go for it.

GeordieSaint added 12:07 - Dec 16 After Inter won the Champions League they put Wesley on one of the top contracts in world football worth in the region of £200 000 a week. No way is he only on a quarter of that at Gala. A loan until the end of the season with them paying half his wages might work though and put him in the shop window.
