Preston and National Betting Preview
Preston and National Betting Preview

A big weekend in the betting callender with the National this weekend and Rangers at home to Preston.

The Don
Another blank last week with neither QPR nor Cocoa Beach obliging, and my other selections still to run, so we are now a shade under the £150 mark in terms of banked profit. This weekend is one of those when if you love your Football and Racing (and I do) then you really should consider investing in SKY multi-room and a bank of plasma screens (and I have) to ensure you don’t miss any of the action. And, if you can port that lot up into the South Africa Road Stand so you can keep an eye on the mercurial Superhoops as well, all the better.

Regrettably I will not be at Loftus Road for the visit of Preston. Nor will I be in front of the 50 Pioneer glued to the coverage from Aintree and the FA Cup Semi Finals. However, I can’t complain, I’m away in Amsterdam to celebrate my mate’s 40th and I can pretty much guarantee this year’s Grand National will be hilarious, if you catch my drift man...

It will also see the second leg of my Lucky 15 bet - struck way back in week 6 - become active, with Bewley’s Berry (advised at 25/1, but currently trading at 16’s) biding to add to John Part’s victory in the PDC World Darts Championship. We also have Kelami (advised @ 66/1, but currently trading at around the 40/1 mark) on our side.

I would like to add few more into the mix, all with modest £5 each way investments, all with Sporting Odds. They are PHILSON RUN at 25/1, MON MOME @ 33/1 and KNOWHERE @ 50/1.

One other piece of advice, don’t leave it until Saturday to make a bet on the National - the shops will be packed with once a year one pound each way on the favourite punters and the layers will no doubt take advantage by compressing the prices.

Back in West London, despite some impressive recent form from Preston, I fancy us at an odds against price and as Totesport offer 6/5 on a QPR Win a cheeky £10er on this outcome is advised.

Finally to the cup semi-finals, and I’m backing PORTSMOUTH to triumph in 90 minutes at odds of 10/11 with Paddy Power. Invest our final £10 in this eventuality, and then IF they oblige take the return (which will be £19.09) and back CARDIFF to beat Barnsley in normal time at odds of 13/10 with SKYBET. The overall return, for what is effectively a double with two different firms, would be £43.91

I’m not sure I’ll see these games as I’ll be watching Ajax play De Graafschap who are available at 11/1 - but that’s one piece of advice I won’t be giving this weekend!

Best of luck.

For the weekend:
QPR to beat Preston £10 at 6/5 with Totesport
£5 each way Philson Run in the National 25/1 with Sporting Odds
£5 each way Mon Mome in the National 33/1 with Sporting Odds
£5 each way Knowhere in the National 50/1 with Sporting Odds
Portsmouth to beat West Brom, 10/11 £10 Paddy Power
Cardiff to beat Barnsley 13/10 Sky Bet £19.09 if Portsmouth beat West Brom

Previously Advised:
Lucky 15 bet – remaining Bewley’s Berry in the Grand National, Neil Robertson in the World Snooker Championship, and Adam Scott in the US Masters. (Note: John Part winning the PDC World Darts Championship already guarantees a profit – all four will return upwards of a third of a million pounds).
Shaun Murphy and Stephen Maguire to win the World Snooker Championship.
Kelami each way for the Grand National
Mumbai to win the IPL
Delhi to win the IPL

Preston are up this weekend and my QPR bet is going to go on Ageymang to get the first goal against his former club. We already have our selection picked for this weekends Grand National and as we are on the well backed favourite Cloudy Lane with a fiver each way at 18/1 we will leave this race alone. However we will have two bets at Aintree on Mon Michel and Miko de Beauchene.

The FA Cup this year has been a minefield so we stay well clear but lets hope Barnsley do the business so we are going for 4 away games on the football. Funniest thing I have seen all week that doesn’t involve Chelscum in the Champions league or Bednars goal line clearance against the scousers but about a man who was trying to set up his satellite TV in the states and needed to drill a hole in the wall. He didn’t have a drill so decided to shoot a hole through the wall with his gun. Unfortunatley he forgot to tell his missus who was on the other side of the wall. He has been arrested for murder. Now I know a poor woman has died but don’t you think that using this method would brighten up some of these DIY shows on daytime TV.

Four for the weekend:
£15 Patrick Ageymang 1st goal 11/2 William Hills
£10 win 3.25 Aintree Miko De Beuchene
£5 e/w 1.45 Aintree Mon Michel
£3.00 trebles and £3.00 accum BET365
Ipswich 11/10 Leeds 5/4
Sheff Wed 8/5 Brentford 9/4
