G.M's Match Preview: Confident Rams Will Beat Blackburn In Tight Encounter
Wednesday, 24th Feb 2016 06:05 by George Martin

Derby will be hoping they can capitalise on their first win in 8 league games when they entertain Blackburn in The Championship's only fixture tonight.

It looked like it was to be another defeat against Brentford until Hendrick equalised. Two further goals has boosted confidence, hope and belief amongst players and fans.

Derby are likely to change Martin for Bent upfront with the latter again struggling in the lone striker role.

If Wassall continues with a 4-3-3 formation, they are likely to remain unchanged with Hanson in the holding role and Butterfield and the energetic Hendrick joining him.

Johnson may continue on the left, but Ince may come in for Russell on the right wing while Weimann may return to the squad after a bout of illness at the weekend.

Like Derby, Blackburn are out of form having only won one in the past nine. This included a 5-1 battering by West Ham in the FA Cup on Sunday.

They earned a decent draw away to Boro recently and welcome back Graham and Grimes, having both been cup tied at the weekend while Taylor is suspended having been sent off in the same game. Spurr and Hanley will be hoping to be in contention after recent injuries.

Prediction:

Derby will be looking to put back to back wins together, as they try and fend off play-off contenders and consolidate their own position in the top 6.

Blackburn are likely to be well organised, hard to break down and hard to beat. Derby need to have more quality in the final third.

After coming from behind to win a game for the first time in the league this season, the players should be brimming with confidence.

Derby to win a tight encounter 2-1 with Ince scoring one of the goals.
