Another first timer in charge of Brighton trip - Referee
Monday, 18th Apr 2016 20:24 by Clive Whittingham

Just as Action Images have stopped sending photographers to our games now there's nothing to play for, so the league has stopped sending referees we know about.

Referee >>> Mark Heywood (Cheshire), not to be confused with Mark Haywood from West Yorkshire who has refereed several QPR games before.

Assistants >>> Nigel Lugg (Surrey) and Rob Smith (Hertfordshire)

Fourth Official >>> Keith Hill (Hertfordshire)

History

First QPR appointment.

Stats

Heywood has refereed 24 games this season, his fourth on the league list, sending six players off and booking 81 in the process. Three of his red cards have come in his last six games so hopefully everything is alright at home. He's already refereed Brighton this season, in a 0-0 draw at Preston six weeks ago. This is just his seventh Championship match of the season so far.

Last season he refereed 27 matches, booked 97 players and sent seven off but that trend of coming on strong at the end of the season was prevalent again with six red cards in his last 10 appointments and five in his last six outings. He refereed Brighton's 3-0 loss at Derby.

Other Listings

Championship >>> Stuart Attwell has Brentford Cardiff, Mike Jones drops down for Burnley v Boro at the top of the division.

League Two >>> Gavin Ward has Newport v Oxford, lucky things.
