Southampton v QPR Betting Preview

Can QPR finally get a win at the ninth attempt? See what our pundits think of the game at St Mary's and value elsewhere in the weekend markets.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup brought Brian an £80 return for his early faith in Kuato Star, the first Cheltenham Gold Cup winner ever to lose the trophy and then regain it. That means a £30 profit for him and take his overall debt down to £76.78. The Challenger account is now £7.09 in debt, the first time it has been in the red for a couple of months, after a lean weekend last time out.

The game at St Mary’s four weeks ago would have been a nailed on away win however the Saints have hit a bit of form where we have just hit a great big bloody wall and we can’t work if we should go round it, over it, or through it. With Swansea in midweek I can’t see us picking up points in either game so I will stick we the tried and failed system of Leggy to get the first goal.

I will go for a Lucky 15 first goal scorer in the weekends Premiership games. I do like this bet as it gives you a bit of interest over the weekend and with the selections all at decent prices one winner gives you at least your money back. And I will go for my normal four team bet in the football with 4 aways.

The 6 Nations comes back for its penultimate round of games and I expect France, Ireland and Wales to win and beat the handicap so will have a treble and to celebrate St Patrick’s Day early we will have Tommy Bowe to get the first try for Ireland.

My mate Kevin has told me he does read this column so I am passing on the following words of wisdom to him. When a man argues with a woman, the female always gets the last word. If a man says anything after that it is just the start of a new argument.

The Challenger
What a thrilling race the Gold Cup was on Friday, such a shame that my boss walked in three fences from home and the radio had to go off. Still Kuato’s win covered my earlier losses on Binocular that let me down on Wednesday. I could do with a win on here though – it’s been a few weeks and like Harry Redknapp having initially taken over an account in deep trouble and apparently turned it around I am now back in a losing position with the winning post in sight. Desperate times call for desperate measures and consequently I am backing QPR for a win – well it’s got to happen soon hasn’t it and looking at Southampton’s home record any visiting team going there at 11/5 is good value.

For the weekend:
£20 QPR to win at Southampton 11/5
£5 Damion Stewart to score first 28/1

£10 Super League treble, Warrington evens, Huddersfield 11/8 and Catalans 11/8 to win

Three £5 trebles
Bolton 11/10, Everton 1/2 and Hull 13/8 to win
Barnsley 11/10, Doncaster 6/4 and Bristol City 11/8 to win
Grimsby 13/8, Bradford 21/10 and Morecambe evens to win.
