Keep those 1-0 wins coming all season long

Christian Burgess reflected on another great day at the office for the Pompey back line and said: Keep the clean sheets coming.

In beating Bury 1-0, the Blues kept their fourth clean sheet in five and their third in a row in the league at Fratton Park.

Matt Clarke grabbed the only goal and his defensive partner Burgess was pleased with another job well done. He told the Pompey website: 'It was another good 1-0 win — we’ll take them all season. We’re happy to get the three points and the clean sheet is a bonus.

'We had a couple of chances in the first half and got the goal in the end — then it was up to them to break us down. There were more opportunities for us on the counter and we were pleased with the way in which we limited them. Our goalkeeper didn’t have to make too many saves at all and that’s always a positive thing to take from a game.

'We defend well as a unit and work hard. If we score first then it’s going to take something special for teams to get back.

'Matt’s having a very good season and we’re both trying to keep as many clean sheets for the team as we can. He did well to get the goal and it’s been a while for me! We’re focusing on trying to get goals from set-pieces, so I’m delighted for him.'
