Interview with a Bradford fan Friday, 15th Feb 2008 12:35 Tommo catches up with Norman again with the aim of giving Dale fans an insight into the wonderful city of Bradford. 1) Good evening Norman, it’s good to hear from you again, how is everything on the dark side of the Pennines? Everything's fine on this side of the Pennines where proper Northerners reside, although some of us are a bit down after being beaten by the 'buckets' last week. 2) You’ve said before that you’re enjoying the ‘Rochdale League’… Is that still the case? The Rochdale League: .....Proper fans (with the exception of MK Dongs) ....Proper scoreboards (the ones where you have a little fella inside putting up the half time scores) .....proper pies (with the exception of one I bought at Spotland a few seasons back) At times Ben would run around like a Bantam with no head, but on his day he could be a match winner. To be fair to him he played most of his games for us at a higher level and in my opinion he could still have done a job for us in the 'Rochdale League' 4) Speaking of Valley Parade, it’s a bit smaller than Spotland, will the Rochdale masses be able to fit in there? I'm sure we'll be able to accommodate BOTH of you in the 'Spice Rack' stand. Seriously though, the 'Spice Rack' stands holds 1,800 and there is another 500 or so places in the Midland Road stand for MAHUSIVE teams like Bury. Kyle Nix (left sided midfielder) is on fire at the moment, scoring goals for fun. Willy Topp is our new Benito Carbone without the £40,000 a week pay packet. Watch out for David Brown who may come on as sub. At 3' 7" he is the smallest player in the WURLD .....that small, he wears turn-ups on his underpants. Bazza has endeared himself to the City fans with his 100% attitude, although his 'Cruyff turns' and 'Georgie Best shimmies' have also helped him to acheive 'cult hero' status. I'm assuming you mean Bratfud as in cultural capital of the WURLD. In all honesty Valley Parade is situated in an awful area of Bratfud where pubs are far and few between. The Bradford Arms on Manningham Lane is the 'away' pub. If like me you like a curry or two, then the Sweet Centre on Lumb Lane is top notch. 9) Did Bradford have 5 players sent off on Saturday? If not, then how on earth did you manage to lose to bury FC? Well to be honest there were at least 5 players who might as well have been sent off for all the good they were. We went in at half time a goal to the good and although far from convincing there seemed little danger of losing to a carp Bury side. The second half we were just pants and Bury looked like Brazil with Andy (bash your) Bishop grabbing a brace. By Heck, only Bratfud could make Bury look like Brazil. The Bury result was certainly a blow to our aspirations but you never know, if we can start another little run going for the next half a dozen matches, we still might get into the mix. It will be difficult on Saturday though, playing the best away side in the WURLD. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
