Rochdale born defender David Buchanan has left the club following his trial spell at Spotland and is trying his luck with Hamilton Academicals instead.

The former Bury defender joined up with Dale for pre-season training, and featured during the reserve side's 2-0 win over Rossendale United last weekend.

However, he was absent from the 3-0 victory over Fleetwood on Tuesday. It transpires that Buchanan played for Hamilton against Queen of the South that same night, and featured for them against Wigan a couple of days earlier.

In joining up with the Accies, Buchanan is expected to go on his second pre-season tour to Spain in the space of a month.
