We've had so many we are spoilt for choice but I'd have to go for Alan Mullery.
He inherited a team from Terry Venables that had just finished 5th in the 1st Division and qualified for the UEFA Cup.
He destroyed the team and the spirit.

I wasn't around, but Mullery sounds like the worst by far. Trying to send the players out for extra time after we'd lost on away goals FFS.
He also condemned Palace to a couple of decades of obscurity since they hated him even more than we did.

HUghes for me but I accept others know more of Mullery type era, Houston and Harford were poor too it must be said.

Mullery.
You have to understand just how good Venables' side was to realise how badly Mullery was screwing it up. It was a bit like Graham Taylor at England after Italia 90
Only manager as far as I know to have the entire home support chanting for him to go.
Hughes however was the one manager who had an open cheque book and still screwed up.
I never liked Jim Smith either but he did sign Seaman, Paul Parker and Sir Les and put Alan McDonald into the side so I suppose I should forgive him. | | | |
