Proud to wear the Hoops though. FACT!

Still amazes me we wasted good hard earned on Dean 'Pony' Coney. I am sure many will understand my thinking, we should have maybe concussed him a bit more ;-)

I would have thought it's pretty common, and it's not always because players have had their heads turned. Some just blossom briefly. Others like David Bentley lose interest in football.

I don't know, Norwich paid good money for him after he scored that concussed Worldy against them, makes you realise why Pompey never bid for him!

Back to the original thread, Russel Beardsmore was a promising United winger before Giggs, think he played against us late 80's

imo , I Dont think Hills career lived up to its promised trajectory once he left Man utd , he wasnt much kop for us , and i think he ended up at millwall pretty quickly then the states.

Howard gayle is another id probably bracket in the same mould.

good one that Mr Sheen. forgot about him.

I also remember striker Billy Jennings at West Ham being a bit of a rock Star and idol, then leaving to play in america while in his mid twenties never to be heard of again.

I saw a player called lee frost score a hat trick on his debut for Chelsea at Leyton Orient. back in the late 70's , Never heard of him again either.

Richard hill a midfielder in the mid 80's who scored 35 goals one season for Cambridge utd , went to Aston villa for a hefty fee and sunk without trace.
